Syd in Manila: Comme des Garçons

Probably the blog post in which I completely fawn over Comme des Garçons. Before I went over and visited Rockwell, we made a stop to Comme des Garçons to check out their stuff.

Comme des Garçons is a Japanese fashion label that is headed by the mega talented Rei Kawakubo and her husband Adrian Joffe. Founded in 1969, Kawakubo diverted the company to success in the 70s due to her menswear line. It wasn't until 1981 however, that Comme des Garçons debuted on the Paris runway, received by many Parisians as a ground breaking collection.

Comme des Garçons in Manila is located in One Rockwell, which is a good 5-10 minute drive away from Rockwell itself. Unfortunately, I only went inside CDG, and not inside the other shops in that area.

I love CDG's facade. The iconic polka dots surround the glass windows and such. They also had an Alice in Wonderland type of decoration going on as well. Various scenes from the novel such as Alice speaking to the White Rabbit were up as display.

Comme des Garçons's minimalistic design in fashion is also evident when it comes to their store display. Everything is neat and orderly. Colours range from blacks to grays, to whites, and to pastels.

The famous Comme des Garçons PLAY line. Picked up a few shirts here! I am in love with the little heart designed by Filip Pagowski.

The saleslady smiled at me when I got down on floor level to try and take these "artistic" shots of these beautiful shoes.

Comme des Garçons and Dr. Martens collaboration. I love the white and brown oxfords on the lower right :D

Watches and t-shirts that were popart/Andy Warhol inspired.

Before we left, my aunt and mom got me these bad boys as an early birthday gift. I love them! Thanks again, mom and ninang!

Visiting a Comme des Garçons store was extremely inspiring for me. The aspects of design that Rei Kawakubo puts into her clothing is completely breathtaking, the store itself is a Comme des Garçons design, asymmetrical and very minimalist. I know for a fact that when I do grow older, I would love to work for CDG. One day, One day.
